Blogging has been an amazing experience for me. I never thought that my thoughts and ideas would be received so generously. I’m the type of person who loves to talk to different people and share experiences, and blogging has been a great way to do that. While I have a lot to learn (Particularly about knowing what to include and what not to!), the learning experience has been quite rewarding.

I’ve started to blog more about fashion and beauty, two topics I really enjoy, and I want to share about how they don’t have to be expensive or unreachable. Like I’ve mentioned in other posts, I’m on a tight budget but just like any girl I want to do what I can to look pretty. I don’t think it’s wrong to want to be beautiful, as long as we don’t cross the line and become haughty and vain. But to want to look good and get creative with simple items, can not only be something others appreciate but a lot of fun as well. So now I’ll be sharing how I enjoy it, and take you through my morning routine.

First of all, my style is quite simple. I like matching tops with jeans or skirts. I don’t go crazy searching for the perfect accessories to match my clothes, although if one happened to jump out in front of me I might put it on, literally it would have to do that (which is unlikely, and would be quite scary). Unless of course I am dressing for a special event like a wedding I would think about my outfit a little more, plus I would add the high heals which is RARE for me, as I find my height at 5′ 9” to already be tall enough, and I love to feel comfortable when I walk around. Trying to balance on pointy stick like things, while walking around seems unnecessary to me. Maybe it’s good for the core? But I already have my exercise, so I’m good!

This belt jumped out at me.. Well someone gave it to me for free, so I put it on :)

I have several skirts and several tops, and a few easy to wear dresses, so usually I grab one of each last minute and throw it on. Same with the jeans, I match it with a top and find the right color ‘flat’ shoes and bag, and grab something warm (just in case) and I’m nearly ready to go. Of course I wouldn’t forget to freshen my face up a bit. I apply my face cream and sunblock, use some concealer for the dark under eyes, and the annoying red I get around my nose, a light powder, and then add a little mascara, blush and lip gloss then pack my bag and I’m ready to go. This is on a ‘non hair washing day’, as I wash my hair every other day, then blow dry it to straighten out my naturally curly and frizzy hair which adds an extra 30 minutes to my routine.

Now it all sounds pretty simple but what gets a little more messy is my bag. I think I need a new bag to fit all the ‘just in case’ things I put in it. I mean I came from the UK where it’s sunny for 30 minutes, then cloudy and raining for 30 minutes, then snowing for 30minutes, then sunny again and so on, well you get the picture, so let’s start with the umbrella. As long as it fits in my bag then I put it in my bag, and considering the rainy season at this time, I guess it’s not a bad idea right!? Then I have my wallet, my keys, my work phone, my personal phone, chargers, hair brush, lip balm, lipstick, chewing gum, candies, paracetamol, a pen, notepad, make up bag, hand sanitizer, tissues, ipad (if it fits), and occasionally some form of snack, be it dark chocolate or nuts. This is NOT an advertisement for any robbers by the way, and I’m not too bad at striking now, with my Muay Thai skills FYI! Anyway, does the bag sound familiar to anyone or is this really just me? Well at least if you’re out with me, I’m someone you can count on for supplies hehe, I’m also good with sharing 😉 I’m just not sharing a photo of the inside of my bag with you here, as I don’t want to scare you..

I’m not very girly when it comes to getting nails painted and manicured, but i’m thinking I should pay a bit more attention to those things, as I always like the way it looks on other girls, it just looks more neat, and complete (haha time for a poem? No not now).. I’m not quite sure why I don’t think that way, I’m also not sure why I prefer action films and thrillers to love stories, but I am feminine in other ways trust me.. Sensitivity for one which is both one of my best and worst qualities.

I don’t have the best eye sight, and it’s gotten worse over the past 6 months as I’m plastered to the computer at work, and I’m not keen on sticking things in my eyes, so I wear glasses most of the time. I will try contacts one of these days, but I haven’t been in a hurry.

Some of my favorite must haves which I keep in my makeup bag are my Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, which is more like a gel and I use it as lip balm. I was taught this trick age 17 while modeling, by a makeup artist, and never gave it up ever since. It’s the one thing that will keep your lips from getting dry, PROMISE, although you need to re-apply a couple of times a day, which is fine by me. It comes in a huge tube so it lasts for a really long time. It’s actually a balm that can be used for burns, insect bites and all sorts of things. The other thing is my Benefit flawless powder. I never needed powder before but I use this now because of an accident I had two years ago. Someone used a sort of heat device on my face, which was free, so I was excited, however it had a negative effect on my skin and the quality of my skin sadly got worse. My once porcelain, clear skin now has a bunch of blemishes on it (not getting into details). It’s sad, but I have to accept what is, and I keep telling myself it could have been worse, plus although the dermatologist say there is not much I can do other than try more heat devices (NO THANKS), I still believe in healing, and keeping positive with everything in life is key 😉 Anyway, flawless to the rescue! it’s so light and glides on the skin smoothly. I don’t wear foundation for full coverage simply because I don’t like the idea of masking my skin all day, so my skin is not perfect, but that’s fine, and flawless works well enough for light coverage.

I have three lipsticks I will change up each day if I want to wear lipstick, but I only dab a little on as I don’t really like the full lipstick effect unless I want to look more dressy… One is Heavenly Hybrid by Mac which was a nice birthday Surprise this October, the other is Pink Crush by No7 that I ‘borrowed’ from my mum, which you can find only in the UK, and lastly Majestic by Gorgeous Cosmetics which I bought in Eastwood Mall. My concealer is Effacernes Waterproof Undereye Concealer by Lancôme, and my mascara is by Lancôme too, both were gifts!

Here are a few of those items.. Sorry about the ink stain on the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. One of my pens had an explosion in my bag!

Since I use little makeup and since I now have sensitive skin I would usually spend more money on those items, as well as my face creams. I just bought an Olay face cream to try after doing some research, but also have a natural cream I bought from Healthy Options by Derma e, and the Midnight rescue oil by Kiel’s. Sometimes I even use coconut oil to take off my makeup then leave some on as a moisturizer.

As for the clothes, that’s a different story, the cheaper the better, and it’s usually SM or the Landmark, or any bargains I can find in sales.. My favorite sale is at Cotton On as you can find really great items for very cheap. I found a great top for 300 pesos and a good pair of jeans for 800 pesos. Not bad.

Anyway now you know a bit about my fashion I hope you will enjoy any of my future posts on fashion or beauty items. I’m all for encouraging people to wear what they feel comfortable in, and what makes them feel good. What helps to bring out the inner beauty in them, as feeling good about yourself will show, and as I’ve mentioned once before, there is nothing more awkward than seeing someone trying to follow a trend and looking uncomfortable in it, it just doesn’t work. Being yourself is unique, and that’s beautiful :)

Psalm 139:13-16 ESV
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
