One of the great things about shopping in the tiangge is that i’m able to get a lot of pieces for the price of one item at more expensive stores. I find that getting a good deal is part of the fun of shopping. (And it also makes David really proud of me when I tell him how cheap my purchases were. I’ll write more about some budget tips I’ve learnt from him.) Once in a while I see something that’s a bit more pricey but because I’ve been able to save a bit from budgeting I’m able to treat myself. The end results, are outfit combinations that are overall inexpensive yet nice and fun to wear.
Here are a few combinations from last week’s outfits. Thanks to Tin Kopeng of IDC Manpower for sharing your lunch break with me.
Relaxed

I’ve always loved stripes and have plenty of stripy tops in my closet, and I guess Kristina shares some of the same interests as me. None of these photos were planned, we just came that day in what we both felt like wearing. It must be true that great minds think alike!

Relaxed for both Kristine and I usually involves a pair of comfortable pants and a comfortable top to match. Add a little splash of color and a casual outfit comes to life. I usually add color either with my shoes, handbag or necklace. Kristine will often wear more colorful tops, and even pants to go. She loves bright colored shoes and funky handbags too.
Smart Casual

I love it how a really casual outfit can be transformed by simply adding a blazer over a t-shirt or with a simple lace detail on a cotton top.

Smart doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. A loose fit cotton print shirt with a pair of dark denim jeans are a perfect combination for a quick, casual smart outfit. Kristine also found a comfortable smart option with this jersey style dress which has a high neck line that immediately adds the smart to a (could be) casual dress, and a nice pair of shoes to match.
Girly

I think us girls are definitely more spoilt for choice of clothes than men. We get to wear pant outfits and shirts, but sometimes it’s nice to address the feminine in us and dress like a girl. For me a long floral skirt with a simple top and cardigan to match did the trick, along with my sequins black shoes and my favorite heart necklace. (Another one of my greenhills buys). I really like this dress Kristine wore with a great pair of shoes and belt to match, and a nice pastel cardigan to pull it all together.
Just like the eyes are said to be the windows to our soul and can speak a thousand words, fashion can also be an extension of our personalities and who we are. As much fun as we can have getting dressed up each day, I also believe it should not be a means to seek attention or mask a beautiful soul, but simply an extension of our inner beauty.
1 Peter 3:3-4 ESV
Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
